Alef-Bet (Hebrew alphabet)
Foundational vocabulary and grammar
Nouns and prepositions
Translation techniques
Basics of Hebrew verbs: Qal stem and the four conjugations
Text: Selections from the Hebrew Bible
Textbook: Athas and Young, Elementary Biblical Hebrew: An Introductory Grammar (Fifth Edition)
Students should purchase the textbook prior to the first class. Australian students can purchase the book here. International students will receive information about how to purchase upon enrolment.

Our introductory courses provide those starting out on their Hebrew journey with everything they need to develop basic ancient Hebrew proficiency including learning how to read and write in ancient Hebrew and learning foundational grammar, vocabulary, and translation techniques.
What experience do I need to have with Ancient Hebrew?
No prior experience is required for Introduction to Ancient Hebrew A. Students should enrol in Introduction to Ancient Hebrew A before moving into Introduction to Ancient Hebrew B.
Can I join Introduction to Hebrew B even if I haven’t done Introduction A?
